The Echo of Duriel is an Uber Boss in Diablo 4 introduced along with season two, Season of Blood, but players in Loot Reborn can still farm this Boss for Unique and Legendary loot. Duriel is near the top of the Uber Boss ladder, so finding the ingredients to summon him can be tricky. Half the battle is already won by knowing what to gather and where to go.

Like other bosses from Diablo 4 season two, Season of Blood, players need to gather several necessary components to summon Duriel. Often, these reagents are found off of lesser bosses and require you to climb the Uber Boss ladder until you finally reach the Echo of Duriel. Given that this boss’s loot is extremely valuable, this difficult trek is worth it.

How To Summon Echo Of Duriel In Diablo 4

To summon the Echo of Duriel in Diablo 4, players need to find two Shards of Agony and two Mucus-Slicked Eggs. Shards of Agony require players first to find Living Steel, gathered by participating and opening chests in Helltide events. You can find Living Steel primarily in chests marked as Torture Chests of Living Steel, but also off of enemies and mini-bosses. After gathering five pieces of Living Steel, you can summon and slay the Uber Boss Grigoire to claim your Shards of Agony.

With these four items in the tote, you can summon and slay an Echo of Varshan to acquire Mucus-Slick Eggs. The Tree of Whispers is found in the swampy areas of Hawezar. If you have already beaten the main story, you have likely unlocked the area’s Waypoint. Now, with both necessary components in your inventory, you can finally travel to find and fight the Echo of Duriel.

Where To Summon Echo Of Duriel

The Echo of Duriel is found in the Gaping Crevasse dungeon in Kehjistan in Diablo 4. Before you get to the altar to summon the Echo of Duriel, dubbed the Pestilent Altar, you must fight through the dungeon. This fairly short, level 100 and above dungeon is reserved solely for endgame players. Ultimately, it is a fairly linear dungeon that leads players directly to the Pestilent Altar.

The only challenging enemies you will face in the dungeon leading up to Duriel are the Heralds and Disciples. As long as you are level 100 or above and adequately geared to take on World Tier Three or Four content in Diablo 4. Whenever you approach the altar, you must interact with the two necessary items in your inventory: Mucus-Slicked Eggs and Shards of Agony. After this, the Echo of Duriel will spawn, and you can finally fight this long-awaited boss.

Best Tips & Tricks

Given that the Echo of Duriel stands at the top of the Uber Boss ladder in Diablo 4, he is significantly harder to beat than the likes of Grigorie, Varshan, or Lord Zir. The best way to prepare for Duriel is to load up on Poison Resistance before engaging the endgame-level boss.

The overwhelming majority of Duriel’s moveset inflicts poison damage over time, so without any preparations, you likely will not last very long in this fight. The Elixir of Poison Resistance or gear with Poison Resistant specific effects is best equipped for this fight.

During the fight, Duriel spawns several additional enemies that deal constant fire and poison damage. Removing these swiftly adds from the battle before Duriel emerges is best. There are also several holes in the arena where Duriel will spawn additional enemies or launch attacks.

It’s best to lure Duriel away from these holes and keep your distance if you are a ranged class. If you have the damage and patience to chunk down the Uber Boss’s health bar, he isn’t too difficult to defeat. Being an Uber Boss, Echo of Duriel can drop Unique gear. Unique gear is a highly sought-after and essential endgame item to fully realize your build. Alongside regular armor and weapon stats, Unique and Uber Unique gear provide a special effect that can drastically shift your playstyle. Although Duriel drops some of the best Unique and Uber Unique loot in Diablo 4, he is not the source of all Unique drops in the game. Other Uber bosses, such as Lord Zir, are also excellent sources for finding more unique gear.

Other Uber Bosses are not quite as exhaustive or time-consuming to summon as Echo of Duriel, given that he is considered the capstone boss in Season of Blood’s tier list. Overall, loot is the name of the game in Diablo 4, and Uber Bosses are the single best source of the game’s best and rarest drops.
