Mets Daily Prospect Report, 6/28/24: Starting pitching goes well, everything else is inconsistent (2024)

Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (48-29)

BUFFALO 5, SYRACUSE 1 (BOX)

Syracuse had a rather ho-hum loss in this one, never leading and never getting within one run of even tying the game. Buffalo hit a pair of two run home runs — one in the second and one in the fourth — and Syracuse’s offense did not do much of anything. They only amassed three hits and their lone run came in the ninth, when Rylan Bannon hit a garbage time RBI double.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (36-33)

BINGHAMTON 8, PORTLAND 0 (BOX)

Despite the lopsided score, the Rumble Ponies had a slight lead for the vast majority of this win. Rowdey Jordan put them ahead 1-0 with a single in the second, and he drove in their second run of the game with an RBI walk in the sixth. That 2-0 lead would hold until the eighth, when the offense exploded for six runs in the frame. Stanley Consuegra was hit by a pitch to make it 3-0, a two run RBI single off the bat of Wyatt Young made it 5-0. A double steal of second and home pushed the lead to 6-0, Alex Ramirez’s doubled home a run, and Ryan Clifford topped it off with a sacrifice fly.

On the pitching side, Brandon Sporat continued his dominant breakout campaign, tossing six scoreless innings. He only struck out three, which is not the best, but he mitigated hard contact and worked around five hits. He lowered his ERA to 1.94, which is what you love to see.

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (34-38)

ABERDEEN 6, BROOKLYN 1 (BOX)

Brooklyn actually led this game, taking a 1-0 lead on a Junior Tilien double in the fifth. That slim 1-0 lead held into the sixth, where starter Kade Morris faded after a strong start, surrendering two runs before getting out of the inning with a 2-1 deficit.

The bullpen did not do well to keep them in it, surrendering four more runs in the eighth, putting the game out of reach.

Single-A: St. Lucie Mets (23-49)

ST. LUCIE 5, PALM BEACH 3 (BOX)

After two scoreless frames, the Mets ran out to a 3-0 lead in the third. Vincent Perozo opened up the scoring with a solo home run, and A.J. Ewing added the other two runs in the inning with a double. Palm Beach battled back to score two in the bottom of the fifth, but St. Lucie added an insurance run with a bases loaded walk by Jeffry Rosa. Palm Beach made it a one run game again in the seventh, but Colin Houck hit his third home run of the season to get the run back, and put the finishing touches on the win.
