What is the Guardians’ all-time record against the New York Mets?

Cleveland is 5-16 against the Mets all time. New York swept the Guardians at home last year in a three-game series at Citi Field.

Here is a part of a story on how the Guardians starting pitching has upped its game from cleveland.com Guardians beat writer Paul Hoynes.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The rotation is catching up to the bullpen. If this trend continues, the Guardians are going to be even more dangerous than they already are.

The Guardians in their three-game sweep of the Twins over the weekend at Progressive Field produced three quality starts from the rotation. Starters Triston McKenzie, Logan Allen and Tanner Bibee weren’t credited with a win in the sweep, but they combined to pitch 19 2/3 innings, while limiting the rival Twins to two runs for a 0.92 ERA.

The Twins, who left Cleveland on Sunday trailing the first-place Guards in the AL Central by 5 1/2 games, have lost six straight.

The big concern about the Guardians through the first seven weeks of the season has been the lack of innings from the rotation. Stephen Vogt’s bullpen has done a great job carrying the load, but that is not a plan for long-term success.

Here’s what the starters did over the weekend:

-In Friday’s 3-2 win, Triston McKenzie allowed one run on two hits in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out five and walked four. In his last four starts, McKenzie is 0-1 with a 1.78 ERA (five earned runs in 25 1/3 innings).

-In Saturday’s 11-4 win, Logan Allen threw six scoreless innings. He struck out seven, didn’t walk a batter and allowed five hits. Allen has thrown 12 scoreless innings in his last two starts with 10 strikeouts.

-In Sunday’s 5-3 win, Tanner Bibee allowed one run in seven innings. He struck out eight, walked one and allowed four hits. In his last four starts, Bibee is 0-1 with a 4.64 ERA (11 earned runs in 21 1/3 innings), which is a bit of a concern. But in his last two starts, he’s posted a 0.73 ERA (one earned run in 12 1/3 innings) with seven hits, three walks and 12 strikeouts.
